Four-Year Degrees Offered

There are many different Four-Year Degrees offered around the United States that will allow you to further your education and your career opportunities. This is just a short list of schools. To find a complete list of NAVTA recommended/approved schools, check out their website

North Dakota State University

Purdue University

This 4 year program for a Bachelor's Degree allows you to major in Veterinary Technology, while minoring in: Large animal Veterinary Technology, Equine Science, or Animal Science. On Average, the school admitts 28 students into the program yearly.

 

How to Apply:

  • The deadline is April 1st

  • Need completion of VETS 115 Medical Terminology and VETS 125 Animal Restraint with a "C" or better, from the school

  • Need to complete 12 credits at NDS by the end of the spring semester of your application

  • You have to have a Job shadow or work experience in a veterinary practice for 40 hours

  • Obtain qualifying results on the "Wonderlic Pre-admittance Scholastic Level Examination"

Purdue University has a 4 year Veterinary Technology Program, allowing you to obtain a Bachelor's of Science and Applied Science degree. The university, on average, admitts 30 students a year into the program.

 

Minimum Admission Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma/GED - with a "C" Average, but "B" average plus upper-third class rank is preferred. 

 

Admission is competetive based on

  • Academic ability

    • Previous preformance with emphasis on science and math grades, SAT/ACT scores, and writing skills

  • Experience

    • Animal care, Veterinary health care exposure, and general work experience

  • Evidence of self-motivation, self-determination, veterinary technology career awareness, leadership, and awareness of the VT program

St. Petersburg University

St. Petersburg University offers a Bachelor's of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. The Veterinary Technology (VETTC-BAS) program provides terminal degree opportunity for veterinary technicians. Tracks in clinical techniques and hospital management are offered. Program builds on technical skills acquired in AS Veterinary Technology programs with more in-depth knowledge in subject areas critical for veterinary technicians to be highly capable and contributing members of the profession.

 

To apply to the program you need:

  • Graduation from an American Veterinary Medical Association accredited associates degree veterinary technology program and 15 credits of transferrable general education
